Dr Lucy O’Keeffe of CroíValve Named MedTech Innovation Person of the Month for September 2026 Dr Lucy O’Keeffe, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of CroíValve, has been named MedTech Innovation Person of the Month for September 2026, recognising her leadership, innovation and contribution to Ireland’s rapidly developing medical technology sector. The recognition comes during a significant period of growth for CroíValve, the Dublin-based medical technology company developing new treatments for tricuspid regurgitation, a condition in which the heart’s tricuspid valve does not close properly. CroíValve recently secured €33 million in Series B investment, marking an important milestone for the Irish MedTech company and drawing further international attention to the technology being developed by its team. Co-founded by Dr O’Keeffe, CroíValve is developing the DUO Adapt System, an investigational transcatheter technology designed to work with the patient’s native tricuspid valve and provide a minimally invasive treatment option for a broad range of patients. Alongside its Dublin operations, CroíValve has established strong links with Ireland’s research and innovation ecosystem, including a research presence at the iHub at Atlantic Technological University in Galway. Dr O’Keeffe and the CroíValve engineering team have worked closely with the Medical and Engineering Technologies Gateway at ATU over a number of years, including collaboration through its Medical Imaging Suite. The relationship demonstrates the role that collaboration between Irish industry, academia and applied research can play in advancing medical technology from early development towards international clinical and commercial opportunities. Dr Jamie Meehan, Technology Gateway Manager at the Medical and Engineering Technologies Gateway at ATU, said Dr O’Keeffe’s contribution represents exactly the type of industry leadership the MedTech Innovation Person of the Month programme was established to recognise. “Lucy’s leadership and the work of the CroíValve team are a strong example of what can be achieved when ambitious MedTech companies engage openly with Ireland’s research and innovation ecosystem. The collaboration between CroíValve, MET and ATU has developed over many years and we are delighted to recognise Lucy’s contribution to Irish MedTech innovation.” Dr Meehan will present the September award to Dr O’Keeffe at CroíValve’s Dublin facility. The MedTech Innovation Person of the Month programme recognises individuals making a significant contribution to Ireland’s medical technology sector through leadership, research, innovation, collaboration and industry development. The monthly awards also provide an opportunity to showcase the Irish companies, technologies and research partnerships behind some of the sector’s most significant developments. Recipients are recognised as part of the journey towards the MedTech Innovation Awards 2027, which will bring together Ireland’s MedTech community at Dexcom Stadium, Galway, on 29th April 2027.
