Paul was presented with the award by Colin Murphy of Ingenious Media in recognition of his leadership within APC & VLE Therapeutics, his extensive contribution to Ireland’s life sciences industry and, in particular, his work with Ibec BPCI to develop a strategy to support a stronger indigenous biopharma sector in Ireland. With more than 35 years’ experience across the life sciences sector, Paul has worked across biotechnology, active pharmaceutical ingredients, vaccines, aseptic drug product, packaging and inspection, device and combination products and CMO operations, alongside significant operational, capital and strategic leadership responsibilities. After 30 years in Multinationals, Paul decided to take the leap in the indigenous SME sector and was responsible for establishing VLE Therapeutics in 2021 as a science-led GMP manufacturing company focused on clinical-phase therapies. VLE operates through an integrated model with APC, its sister company, combining pharmaceutical process development, digital capabilities and GMP clinical manufacturing to accelerate the development of medicines for patients. In January 2026, Paul became Group Chief Operating Officer and Board Member of APC & VLE Therapeutics, taking on responsibility for helping to deliver the group’s strategic growth ambitions across process development, digital innovation and science-led GMP clinical manufacturing. His contribution extends beyond his commercial role. Paul has been actively involved with Ibec BioPharmaChem Ireland (BPCI) and as a BPCI Board member, has led the development and promotion of its indigenous biopharma strategy, Together, for Others. The strategy is focused on strengthening Ireland’s indigenous BioPharmaChem ecosystem, supporting SMEs to scale, encouraging innovation and developing areas of the national life sciences value chain including academic commercialisation, early clinical-phase research and development, clinical trials, regulation and market access. COLIN MURPHY, INGENIOUS MEDIA “Paul has spent decades contributing to Ireland’s life sciences sector, but what particularly stands out is that he is still looking ahead at where Ireland can do more. His work with APC & VLE Therapeutics is part of an important story around growing our indigenous capability alongside the multinational base Ireland has built so successfully. “Paul also gives his own time and experience to the wider industry through Ibec BioPharmaChem Ireland and the Together, for Others Indigenous sector strategy. That combination of leadership within his own organisation and genuine commitment to the wider sector is exactly what this recognition is about. It was a real pleasure to present Paul with the award and congratulate him personally on a very well-deserved recognition.” PAUL MCCABE, APC & VLE THERAPEUTICS “I am honoured to receive this award and sincerely thank Colin & the team for the recognition. Working in the Life Sciences sector is really rewarding as we get to work at the cutting edge of science and develop medicines to improve patient’s lives.
